I’ve been working on garage doors since before Servo existed, and I started this shop in Renton in 2015 because I was tired of watching homeowners get a verbal guess and a surprise bill. I’m still the one who answers emergency calls at odd hours, and I still carry a full tool kit on every ride-along. My specialty is torsion spring systems - the high-tension coils above your door that do the actual lifting - and I won’t let a technician on my team touch one until they’ve shadowed me for forty jobs minimum. I live in Renton with two dogs who have learned to sleep through pager buzzes. The thing that still gets me: how many “brand-new” openers I open up to find a logic board dated 2009.
Dave R., Senior Installer
Dave joined us in 2018 after ten years installing commercial dock doors in Kent - the heavy steel ones at distribution centers that take a beating from forklift traffic. That background means he’s our go-to for oversized residential doors and custom carriage-house installs in the newer builds along Lake Washington and the hillside homes above downtown Renton. He’s Clopay-certified and has a particular knack for aligning track on garages built in the 1960s, when nothing was quite square. Dave commutes from Maple Valley and spends most weekends fishing for kokanee on Lake Sammamish. He’ll tell you the only thing worse than a door out of plumb is a fisherman who exaggerates.
Linnea T., Service Coordinator
Linnea is the voice you hear when you call (253) 518-3767 - and I mean you, personally, not a recording or a call center three states away. She’s been with us since 2020 and knows every technician’s schedule, every common part in our Renton warehouse, and every permit quirk the city of Renton throws at garage door replacements in the historic districts near Houser Street. Before joining Servo, she dispatch-scheduled for an HVAC company, so she’s unusually good at estimating whether your “weird noise” sounds like a two-hour fix or a full opener swap. Linnea lives in Fairwood, grew up in Enumclaw, and has a documented photo record of her own: she photographs every vintage door she spots on her walks, just for reference.
Jorge M., Apprentice Technician
Jorge came to us in 2023 through Renton Technical College’s maintenance mechanic program, and he’s the reason I still enjoy teaching this trade. He asks the questions most people are too proud to ask - “Why does this cable wrap that direction?” or “How do you know the spring is actually broken and not just unbalanced?” - and he writes every answer in a notebook he carries. Right now he’s certified for routine maintenance, safety inspections, and standard opener installs; he’ll start his torsion spring certification this fall under my direct supervision, because that’s not something we rush. Jorge grew up in Skyway, lives in Renton now, and has already developed a reputation for spotting water damage in bottom seals before the customer notices the rust. His first language is Spanish, which has come in handy more than once in South Renton and along Benson Highway.
