DIY or Call Us?

There’s a safe middle ground here, and then there’s the point where a homeowner risks the door dropping or a spring unloading.

What you can check safely: With the door closed and the opener disconnected, manually lift the door a few feet and feel for binding or hear for grinding. Look at the rollers through the track gap for visible wobble, flat spots, or rust. Note which hinge positions feel rough. That’s useful information to pass along.

Where DIY goes wrong: Replacing a roller requires the door to be raised to a position where the roller can clear the track bend, and on a torsion-spring door, that means the spring is under load even when the door is partially open.
